We spend 90% of our lives indoors!
Look at contemporary design theories! Where questions of typologisation, standardisation and norming are the primary concern, the individual human need for health, personal well-being and and environment worth living in is given no consideration. Atmospheric phenomena such as colours and light are important environmental influences that strongly affect people’s well-being and health.
Environmental Design and Architectural Psychology
Environmental factors such as colours and light have an effect on our experience and behaviour, because that is their biological and cultural function. The positive and negative effects of light and colours on people, as well as on the acceptance and appreciation of the facility, have been scientifically proven and should therefore be taken into account in the planning process from the very beginning.
There is no recipe for good design
Building tasks such as new buildings, conversions and refurbishments are never the same, as place, people and use impose specific requirements on each planning process. We must always seek a new balance in order to reconcile people’s individual needs with their environment, as well as with the resources that are available for this purpose.
Best Practice
To show you how this can be achieved, we have selected 7 best practice examples and asked the designers to present their work and design methodology. Afterwards, we will discuss with the speakers and try to answer your questions you can ask in the chat during and after the presentation.
